Jorvig Park Race Walk Course

Course Description

The Jorvig Park Race Walk Course is on Rails-to-Trails park featuring 12 foot wide asphalt path that is straight, flat, not crowned, and pothole free. This lightly used pathway has no automobile or truck traffic and no road crossings. 

The course hast 3 measured out-and-back loops that share one common turn:

• 1.25km - Certification Number MN 05029 RR
• 2.5km - Certification Number MN 05041 RR
• 5km - Certification Number MN 05040 RR.

This layout allows us to offer a wide variety of distances on each race day, allows all of the walkers to see each other during the race and simplifies race management.

• The 1.25km course is for judged walks of 5km and 10km - meets USATF rules
• The 2.5km course is for
  • Judged walks of 15km-50km - meets USATF rules
  • Unjudged walks when the longest judged walk is 10km or less
• The 5km course is for unjudged walks when the longest judged walk is 15km or more

Course Amenities

• There will be a port-a-potty near the starting line
• We will provide water both on-course and post-race.
• For 10km and longer events, we will provide a table course-side where you can stash your own on-course snacks and sports drinks. Please bring a small sign to identify your goodies.
• We encourage you to bring your own water bottle and snacks for after the race.

Directions to the Course & Parking

Take I394 west from Minneapolis.

To Route 100 south.

To Route 7 west.

Turn south at first traffic light on Wooddale Ave S

Take an immediate right onto the frontage road

Park in the first parking lot on the left.

The course is on the rail-to-trail route just south of the lot.
