Along with these national championship events, the USATF North Region 15 km Race Walking Championships, the USATF Mid-America Masters Region 15 km Race Walking Championships and the USATF/MN Association 15km Race Walking Championships will be held.

Open-to-All 5 km, 10 km and 15 km events will also be held for those desiring a shorter distance, or for citizens of other countries that are not eligible to compete in a USA Championship event.

For those interested in race walking 20 km, a 5 km extension to the 15 km is available to those athletes that can complete 20 km in under 2:00. Athletes must register for both the 15 km and the 5 km extension.

All of the above events start at 7:30am on August 17, 2008 on the Greenway Trail directly behind the event hotel.

For those interested in a shorter distance and a non-competitive atmosphere, a 3 km race walk open to everyone will be held shortly after the completion of the 15km, at approximately 9:30am. Race officials, volunteers, spectators, athletes, and everyone that enjoys race walking are encouraged to enter this fun event.

Health Notice

Weather can be hot and humid and dehydration is a danger. Please hydrate properly prior to, during and after the race. Water and electrolyte replacement sports drink will be available on the course for all participants. 15km athletes may bring their own food/hydration for consumption during the race - bring a small sign to identify your stuff.

The event hotel is located in a trendy section of Minneapolis, with a variety of small restaurants and shops within easy walking distance.

A short light rail ride away:

• downtown Minneapolis and the Nicollet Mall, 

• the Mall of America - the USA's largest enclosed shopping mall

• the Water Park of America, USA's largest indoor water park.
